Phosphorus fractions in soils with distinct mineralogy and their relationship with phosphate buffer capacity indicators in Brazil

Phosphorus (P) is one of the most important elements used in fertilizing soils tropical regions due to low efficiency phosphate fertilization. This work aimed fractionate inorganic P (Pi) different mineralogical compositions and relate these fractions with their respective buffer capacity (PBC) indicators. The were characterized physically, chemically mineralogically. Additionally, we evaluated concentration that remained solution soil after equilibrium was met; this termed remaining (P-rem). In general, Pi did not correlate PBC P-H2O fraction showed a negative correlation P-Al fraction. Ferric minerals influence fixation. P-rem strong maximum adsorption capacity, energy, amorphous crystalline forms Fe. aluminum contributed best estimator PBC. high, moderate rates fixation high amounts P-Al, P-Ca, P-Fe, respectively. results influenced by soil, suggesting fertilizers depends on mineralogy clay within those soils.
